Manabu Matsunaga

Photographer.

Born in Nemuro, Hokkaido, Japan
Manabu was inspired by his father from primary school, and started photography along with the usage of the dark room.
He moved to Tokyo after graduating high school, and then graduated the Japanese University of Art, Photography Section.
During his student days, he did a lot of part time jobs to broaden his experiences.
Whilst his time in Tokyo, he joined an indie band and was responsible for the staging photography and also keyboard.
So that he could buy a record that he wanted, he used to hang around areas such as Shinjuku where there were many maniac record shops.
Starts a full time job in a Japanese design center.
After leaving this, Manabu became a professional photographer.
Moves to Paris, France.
Widens his skills by taking portraits and reportage, whilst working mainly for magazines.
Starts a web [magazine names chocolatmag] in Paris, responsible for the layouts.
Manabu's grandfather was the Japanese anglicist/translator, Mr Naoki Yanase and translated the famous James Joyce.


NEWS
In December 2009, he opened a web catalogue named [carnet de voyages] which has the theme of travelling.
Now, there is an application called [PhotoHorloge] for iPhone+iPodTouch+iPad
Manabu has a photo column for pictures everyday called [chocolat papa356J] which has already got 18 months of pictures on it.
Also has a column in a different web magazine, OPENERS called [carnet de jardin]
